"...severely undermined judicial independence..." — Human Rights Watch

Human Rights Watch publica hoy su informe anual sobre los derechos humanos en el mundo (*). Es interesante notar que para esta organización muy 'progre', la independencia judicial y la libertad de expresión juegan un papel determinante en la definición de los derechos humanos. Prueba, si hacía falta, que el kirchnerismo es lo más anti-progre que uno puede imaginar.

Esto dice HRW sobre la independencia judicial en la Argentina — a notar el uso de la palabra check o 'freno', como en checks and balances o 'frenos y contrapesos':

Judicial Independence
In April 2013, President Fernández put forward legislation to revise Argentina's justice system, which Congress swiflty approved. It included a bill to limit individuals' ability to request injunctions against government acts, and another that granted the ruling party automatic majority in the Council of the Judiciary, which selects judges and decides whether to open proceedings for their removal, thereby granting the ruling party powers that undermined judicial independence [...] Fernández accused those who defended the role of the judiciary as a check on other branches of government as being "a check on the people".

Aplaudo decididamente el énfasis de HRW en los contrapesos al poder político como eje de los derechos humanos.
